Recipes to Reduce Phlegm
1. Cut a pear in half, remove and discard the core. Put the pear in a bowl. Fill the hole with approximately 1 tsp. rock sugar (break up sugar if necessary). If you can't find rock sugar, use honey instead.
Add 1-2 cups of water to a pot. Place the bowl in the pot.
Cover the pot with a lid. Steam for 15-20 minutes. Eat the pear and drink the liquid in the bowl:
- at night before resting (if not sleeping well).
- in the morning (if a lot of phlegm in the morning or to facilitate expectoration)
- twice a day (if severe, when getting better, reduce to once a day)
* If the phlegm is yellow/green/brown, eat the skin of the pear. If the phlegm is white, discard the skin.
