Practices to Set You up for Success

The following exercises were developed by Matt Sison (Life is the Perfect System). Please complete these warm-up exercises and review our hypnosis fee schedule before your first hypnosis appointment.

I look forward to helping you work with the feeling mind/body and let it work better for you!

Exercise 1: Feel your way back into your body

  1. Close your eyes and imagine a calm relaxing scene in your life. After opening your eyes, on the left side of a paper describe how your body feels during the “calm” scene. Be detailed.

  2. Close your eyes and imagine a stressful scene in your life. After opening your eyes, on the right side of the paper describe how your body feels during the “stressful” scene. Be detailed.

  3. Don’t over analyze, just be observant of your bodily sensations.

  4. Do this 3 times in a row and see if you can get more and more details.

  5. You can keep practicing this exercise until you feel comfortable with being aware of your bodily sensations. When you are comfortable, move on to the next exercise.

Exercise 2: Practicing “responses”

  1. Sit in a quiet area. When you’re ready close your eyes. Be aware of your first thought, feeling, image or sensation. Be aware of anything that pops up. Don’t judge it.

  2. Write down your first bit of awareness… whether it was a thought, feeling, image, or sensation – don’t judge it. Just report it.

  3. Repeat at least 10 times, or until you can become aware of one bit of awareness before you open your eyes to write it down.

Note:

You may get the same bit of awareness over and over again. That’s ok.

If you’re writing 2 or more bits of awareness, keep going until you catch only 1 bit of awareness immediately. It’s very important that you get good at catching it immediately before you move on to the next exercise. So practice this exercise until it becomes easy.
