Easier Birth Through Fetal Positioning
Mother's job is to dilate
--and baby's job is to rotate.
The opening of the cervix is just one of many events during labor. The baby spins around, or rotates, to fit through the mother's pelvis. Our bodies are designed to give birth while vertical so that the baby can come with gravity and, many times, with movement. Your baby is an active member of the beautiful birthing duo.
The baby will always get in the easiest position for birth
--whenever the baby finds it possible to do so.
What you can do to help your baby settle into an optimal fetal position:
Relaxation
Relax the uterine and pelvic ligaments with breathing and relaxation techniques.
Sit Up
Use gravity-friendly maternal positioning in pregnancy and labor.
Movement
Walk, swim, dance or take a prenatal yoga class.
